Clear terms, no surprises.
Everything is agreed in writing before work starts. These terms cover how we work, what you can expect and how we handle your information.
Last updated: June 2025 · Effective for all projects from June 2025
No work begins without a written agreement covering scope, timeline and deliverables.
Your files, ideas and identity are kept confidential. NDA available on request.
Academic work we support remains entirely yours. We are consultants, not authors.
Projects are paid upfront or in agreed milestones. Final delivery follows payment.
1. About FixMyTask
FixMyTask is an academic and creative services agency providing academic consulting, career support, web development, web design, marketing and advanced computing services. References to "we", "us" and "FixMyTask" in these terms refer to the FixMyTask team. References to "you" and "client" refer to the individual or organisation engaging our services.
2. Service agreement
All work is governed by a written brief agreed before work begins. The brief specifies the deliverables, timeline, revision scope and price. These terms apply to that brief and to all work delivered under it. Where anything in a specific brief conflicts with these terms, the brief takes precedence.
By engaging our services and confirming a brief in writing (including via WhatsApp or email), you accept these terms.
3. Academic integrity
Our academic services — including research guidance, methodology consulting, statistical analysis, editing and proofreading — are provided as consulting and advisory services on work that you own and are responsible for. We do not create original academic work for submission as your own work. The knowledge, decisions, data and academic conclusions in your project remain yours.
You are responsible for ensuring that any use of our services complies with your institution's academic-integrity policies. We provide guidance to help you produce stronger work, not to replace your intellectual contribution.
Cybersecurity services are limited to defensive, educational and research-oriented scope only. We do not provide offensive tooling, exploitation services or any service that could be used for unauthorised access to systems.
4. Confidentiality
We treat all client information, files and project details as confidential. We will not share, sell or disclose your information to any third party without your explicit consent, except as required by law. We are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) — request this before the project begins.
5. Payment
Projects are quoted at a fixed price before work begins. Payment is required upfront for smaller projects or in agreed milestones for larger engagements, as specified in the written brief. We do not begin work until the agreed payment or first milestone is received.
Prices are quoted in the currency agreed at the start of the project. We do not publish fixed price lists — every project is quoted individually based on scope, complexity and timeline.
6. Revisions
Revisions to match the agreed brief are included at no extra charge within 14 days of delivery. A revision is an amendment within the original scope — not a new requirement or a change of direction. Revisions outside the agreed scope will be quoted separately before we proceed.
7. Deadlines
We commit to the timeline agreed in writing at the project start. If a delay arises on our side, we will communicate proactively and agree a new deadline. If a delay arises because of incomplete or late input from the client, the original deadline is adjusted accordingly.
8. Intellectual property
For academic work: all rights in the final work remain with you, the client. We make no claim to authorship or intellectual property in your research, writing or data.
For development and design work: upon receipt of final payment, all rights in the deliverables transfer to you, unless otherwise specified in the written brief. We retain the right to display the work in our portfolio unless you request otherwise in writing.
Code, templates and tools we have developed independently and used in your project remain ours, though you receive a permanent licence to use them as part of the deliverables.
9. Return and cancellation policy
If you wish to cancel a project after work has begun, you will be invoiced for work completed to the cancellation date. Any advance payment above the value of work completed will be returned promptly.
If we are unable to complete a project due to circumstances on our side, we will refund any advance payment for undelivered work in full.
For details on when monetary refunds apply to completed work, see our Refund Policy.
10. Limitation of liability
Our liability is limited to the value of the project fee paid. We are not liable for indirect losses including lost income, lost data, reputational damage or outcomes dependent on third-party decisions (such as exam results, journal decisions or advertising performance beyond our control).
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved by negotiation in the first instance. If unresolved, disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always available at fixmytask.net/terms. The terms in effect when your project brief was agreed apply to that project.
